What is happening at Maldon Primary School?

Maldon Primary School has a current enrolment of 86 students.  We are very excited to welcome 6 new preps to our thriving school community.  We have 4 classrooms this year- a grade Prep/1, grade 2/3, grade 3/4 and grade 5/6.  Our classrooms are supported by a literacy coach one day per week.  We also have specialist art, LOTE (Japanese) and music teachers, all of whom take classes one day per week.

In 2018 we are continuing on our journey of excellence, focusing on achieving a strong and consistent classroom teaching approach across year levels and developing students who are resilient, active learners who are well connected to self, peers, school and the wider community.  We are focusing on improving the literacy outcomes across the school from Prep-Grade 6, using data to inform our teaching direction and personalised learning programs to ensure that every child reaches their full potential.

Another focus for the year is the development of leadership skills in our Grade 5 and 6 students, skills which are vital in our ever changing world. From School Captain to House Captain to Playground Mentor to Fundraising Monitor to Digi Tech member, a variety of leadership opportunities exist for our senior students and all Grade 5 and 6 students have at least one leadership responsibility with many electing to take on two roles.

Following on from our interior renovations in 2016/2017 this year we are turning our attention to outside, “freshening” up the exterior of the building, with a new coat of paint to the weatherboards and windows, planting around the bbq area and rejuvenating our vegie gardens with the assistance of the Prep/1 class and our parent community.

A reminder to all that Maldon Primary School offers after school care!  The service is provided by Castlemaine Child Care and operates out of the multi purpose room.  For more information please go to the drop down box on the “ABOUT” tab above.
